Attention Seniors!
What:  Cap and gown pictures
When: Tuesday, April 29th, 2014.

The choice is yours for the type of picture you would like.  The choices are color, black and white, or sepia.
Send no money now.  Preview the pictures before you buy them. 
All students will be photographed on original Picture Day.  Proof portraits, price list, and instructions will be sent home later.  Wear solid colors for a great look.
Caps and gowns will be provided by LifeTouch Portraits.


The Southside Cardinals led by sophomores Obed Alvarado and Devin Erfurth are the 29-4A District Champions. Alvarado opened with a 75 on the first round and teammate Devin Erfurth closed the second round with a 73 at the Pleasanton Country Club. Anthony Perez, Jesse Esparza and Ryan Erfurth also had low scores to secure the Cardinals 12th District Title. Alvarado was overall District Champion and Erfurth was Runner Up. CONGRATULATIONS CARDINALS!!

The boys and girls soccer teams had players selected to the 57-4A all district team this year.

Boys making 1st team all district:  Sergio Diaz, Marco Garcia, and Fernando Guerra
Boys making 2nd team all district: Jesus Espinoza, Allan Gonzalez, and Abraham Martinez
Boys making Honorable Mention:  Luis Lama, Luis Garcia, and Cesar Hernandez
Girls making 1st team all district:  Dora Cavazos
Girls making 2nd team all district:  Mizden Gonzales and Karina Palacios 


Southside HS hosted the UIL District 29-4A Academic meet and had tremendous success.  Our UIL team won 2nd place Sweepstakes with 388 points totaled from 25 events.  We had 6 individual 1st place finishes, 4 1st place teams and 5 2nd place teams.  In all, we have 26 Regional qualifiers!  Results and Regional qualifiers for each event are below.  These students should be congratulated for representing Southside so well.     Congratulations to the coaches: Donna Martinez, Priscilla Mota, Winton Teter, Richard Casillas, Marty Garcia and Joshua Baker.  Please click below to see the academic results.



Congratulations to Megan Peralez for receiving 2nd place in the SkillsUSA Commercial Photography state competition.

Congratulations to Hilda Maya for being the only competitor in the state to receive the Gold Medal award in SkillsUSA Graphic Design Technical Information state competition.

Both of these dedicated students worked really hard throughout their high school years to represent Southside HS at these state level competitions.

The SHS Library is now open to our community.  Students, parents, and community members may now visit our SHS library and access high speed internet on our comoputers.  SHS library books may be read on-site.  Only district issued devices for students and staff will have Wi-Fi accessiblity on-site.  No Wi-Fi is available for outside devices is possible at this time.

Library hours:
  Monday:  closed
  Tuesday - Friday:  4:30 to 8 p.m.
  Saturday:  9 a.m. to 1 p.m.


Mr. Ricky Lock comes from Gonzales ISD where he has been a Head Coach and Athletic Director for the past 5 years.  Coach Lock has been a head coach for 18 years, with a winning record of 43-16 while at Gonzales ISD. His team was a State Quarter Finalist twice.  Mr. Lock graduated from Sam Houston State University.  


Seniors -- listed below are some important facts you should remember as you go towards graduation this year.

Tentative graduation is Saturday, May 31st, at the Alamodome.

There are 2 mandatory rehearsals.  All graduates must attend both rehearsals in order to cross the stage.
